Prayer Letter for Germany - December 2024

Dear intercessors,

We continue to pray as in the last month for the current political situation in Germany with the break-up of the coalition government, but with thankfulness and confidence as we face the future, for repentance and humility in government circles, and for the new elections which will take place in February next year.

At this time of Advent, and as Christmas time approaches, we sincerely recomend this abstract from the prayer letter this month.:

"It is very interesting to me that Jesus, although he gives us precisely enough understanding that we indeed all belong together as his body, never lets any individual out of his sight. He leaves the 99 in the flock to look after the one who is lost. He also looks after orphans and widows. His heart reaches out to the lonely.

Christmas makes many people experience their loneliness even more intensely. Do we not have an answer as followers of Jesus to this need to reach out and care for those in our community, or do we really want to leave it to governmental measures and action alone?

Let us pray for the emergence of (old and new) forms of true communal life – for ideas, projects, and the courage to take steps to bring people in our time into real and beneficial relationships and to initiate real cultural change as an example and witness for our country."

Thank you for continuing to pray with us for Germany, and perhaps to pray also for the current social and political situation in your country and to be able to reach out to thise who feel lonely and need community as Jesus did, in the power of the Holy Spirit, especially at this time of the year.
