Prayer Letter for Germany - March 2022

Dear intercessors,  

The prayer letter in German for the month of March was written and distributed just before the military invasion of the Ukraine by Russian forces was announced. The attached letter in English is a direct translation of the letter in German and does not therefore make mention of the current situation in the Ukraine. 

But many Christian ministries, especially those with direct involvement in the Ukraine, are now providing updates on current developments for our prayers.

The Waechterruf did release another document with the prayer letter in German with specific guidance for our prayers for the Ukraine and for reconciliation between the East and West in Europe, which was endorsed by five German prayer movements:

1. We have full access to the throne of God the Father through one Spirit. (Ephesians 2:18). We come together before our Father in heaven to ask him for his mercy and his help in this crisis. We put aside everything that so often divides us as denominations and churches. 

2. We are his people, known by the name of God, called by God in Germany and in many other nations. We humble ourselves and pray, seeking God's face, confessing and turning from our sins, asking for forgiveness and for the healing of our lands - in Germany, in Europe and especially now in the Ukraine and Russia. (2 Chronicles 7:14). We come before God in prayer, not trusting in our own righteousness, but in God's great mercy. (Daniel 9:18) 

3. We stand together as the church of Jesus Christ. We accept our common calling, in all our denominations and churches, to be ambassadors with the ministry of reconciliation through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:18-20). We come before the throne of mercy to seek peace for the Ukraine. Through God's strong arm he guides the hearts of those with power and authority. His angels make a way for healing and salvation. In the Ukraine and in Russia and in Europe.

We will be witnesses to his wonders - to the honour of the Father, with trust in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  

The document ended with the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi for peace:

“Lord, make me a channel of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is error, truth; Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light;

And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.”  

We know that you will have been praying in your countries along these lines for reconciliation and peace in the Ukraine and Russia, and for protection and the salvation of all who are involved in the Ukraine and from Russia - the leaders, the soldiers and the people. For help and assistance to reach those who are suffering. For divine wisdom especially for President Zelenski but also for President Putin, and for the leaders in your country and world-wide who are now faced with very difficult decisions. 

Thank you also or praying for Germany according to this month's prayer letter. In particular please note the following for your prayers:

"The Christians in the Ukraine have matured over the years of fighting for freedom for their country and are not expecting help from Europe or the USA, but from God. We have heard prophecies that we must expect danger to return from the East, but also spiritual revival. In Russia, revival is already growing despite much pressure from state authorities."  

Let's pray for spiritual revival to continue in the Ukraine and in Russis through this crisis!
