Prayer Letter for Germany Juli / August 2016

Dear intercessors,

With the summer season upon us we need to pray for all the summer camps and evangelistic outreaches in Germany when many children and young people especially are called by God and have life-changing experiences. We also need to pray for protection of many of our young people as they attend “Heavy Metal” and other music festivals where altars are built to worship the powers of darkness. Such events will be taking place not only in Germany but also in your country – please pray!

The German parliament takes a break in the summer when politicians will spend time in their constituencies attending local meetings and events. Let us pray that they will also take time to relax and enjoy being with their families.

Call of the Watchmen Prayer Conference for Germany – a short overview:

As mentioned in previous prayer letters, a Call of the Watchmen Prayer Conference for Germany was held on May 27-29 in Bingen-on-the Rhine. More than 600 intercessors came with the desire to seek God with all their hearts and to find Him. (Jeremiah 29:12-13). There was no fixed program or agenda; we laid down our own prayer concerns and allowed the Holy Spirit to speak to us as the body of Christ. The leadership team from the Call of the Watchmen and other prayer and prophetic ministries in Germany met before each session to wait on God and to respond only to the call of His Spirit.

The first evening set the tone for the conference. Rosemarie Stresemann declared that we were entering into a prayer heritage from many centuries in Germany. Every hour of prayer is stored up in eternity and we are building upon the prayers of our forefathers. We welcomed the King of kings in worship with the band and dance team, and bowed before Him in prayer and humility. We had come to Mount Zion, the city of God who judges all men. Salvation for this land is only in the name of Yeshua and the blood of the new covenant. (Hebrews 12:22-24). We examined our thoughts and motives as we celebrated communion together so that we could serve Him with pure hearts. (Psalm 139:23-24).

Saturday morning was dedicated to being thankful for all God has done in Germany. We proclaimed God’s promises in His Word, prayed in small groups and quietly waited upon Him.

In the afternoon we prepared ourselves for a new season in Germany, for a new reformation, calling our faith and love back to life (as Lazarus was called out of the tomb), for leaders to build relationships before works, and for us to know God’s good purposes for our land, including for the refugees among us. We repented for all negative talk as Christians and for our lack of faith and love, and we claimed God’s salvation plan for our land.

On Saturday evening we proclaimed that we are all one in Christ as Abraham’s seed and heirs to His promise. (Galatians 3:26-29). But Germany is guilty of making unholy alliances with the Arab people in the past for its own political advantage, never having in mind that God also loves the Arab people and wants to bless them. God not only has a calling on Germany to stand on the side of Israel as Abraham’s seed through Isaac, but also a calling for friendship with the Arab world as Abraham’s seed through Ishmael. Germany has failed to fulfil both of these callings. We repented on behalf of our land and prayed for the old alliances of death and hate to be replaced by an “alliance of life and love”. We prayed that the believers in the German speaking lands and the believers in the Arab-Muslim world would come together in the redemptive power of the cross of Jesus to be a comfort and blessing to Israel and a witness to all nations. We also brought the statement of some political leaders that “Islam belongs to Germany” in repentance before God and proclaimed the Lordship of Yeshua over our land.

On Sunday Ortwin Schweitzer led us in prayer for the nations and particularly for Europe which has blessed the world with the export of its ideas, technology, values, and not least the gospel of Jesus. As well as a national identity, we also have a European identity and as Christians we should take spiritual responsibility for our continent. Therefore a new prayer initiative called “European Canopy of Prayer” has been set up. Intercessors will soon be able to register online ( www.canopyofprayer.eu ) and commit to pray for Europe for 15 minutes each week. A bulletin with current European issues for prayer will be sent out every two weeks.

A full report (in German) can be downloaded at www.gebetskonferenz.de/rückblick , but you may all be interested to see the collage of photos from all the sessions of the prayer conference posted there.

Thank you for praying for Germany. A special prayer alert for Germany with guidance to German intercessors on prayer for “Brexit” will follow shortly!

Blessings,

Your Call of the Watchmen Team - International
